Circle D Transmission and Dennis Sehorn Foundation Celebrate 3rd Annual Fundraiser
Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 23, 2013 -- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS, is a condition that many people are not aware of, but it affects tens of thousands of people each year. This is a painful, debilitating condition, and many who suffer from it eventually will need to be placed on a ventilator and will require significant and costly medical services. The Dennis Sehorn Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established with the primary goals of drawing public awareness to this condition and raising funds to support those who are faced with the financial burdens associated with this condition. Recently Circle D partnered with the foundation to host the 3rd annual fundraiser in support of those with ALS and their families, and together they raised over $61,000.
The Dennis Sehorn Foundation was founded by the same family who established Circle D Transmission, and helping families dealing with ALS is an issue close to their hearts. The Dennis Sehorn Foundation was established in honor of Dennis Sehorn, a family man who passed away in November 2008 from this condition. He left behind a wife and two adult children. Both his surviving wife and two children are on the board of this organization, and they understand first-hand the financial burden that this condition can place on a family. By raising proceeds through their organization for this event, they actively work to provide an improved quality of life for those with this condition and to ease the financial burden for their families.
One of the many ways that Circle D Transmission and the Dennis Sehorn Foundation raise awareness about ALS and work to raise funds for the organization is through an annual fundraiser. This year’s event is the Third Annual Dennis Sehorn Foundation Fundraiser, and it was held at Circle D Transmission in Houston. The event this year was open to the public and featured food and drinks, a silent auction, children’s activities, a car show and a DJ. The October event has traditionally been the biggest fundraiser for the organization, and this year’s event was a success. Over $61,000 was raised for the organization through the fundraiser. Funds will be disbursed to those in need in one of two ways. Applicants who believe they would qualify for funds can apply directly for assistance through the organization’s website. Additional candidates may be located through the ALS Clinic in Houston. Funds may be used to pay for caregiver expenses, medical expenses, home modifications to accommodate medical equipment and more.
The Annual Dennis Sehorn Foundation Fundraiser is the organization’s largest fundraising event each year, it also accepts donations directly from the public to continue to care for those in need through financial assistance.
