CIT Assists Powhatan County with Broadband Assessment and Expansion Plan
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) September 13, 2016 -- The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) announced today a major step in its collaborative work with Powhatan County in which a countywide broadband assessment was conducted in order to identify Powhatan’s broadband goals. CIT worked with the county administration and their advisory committee to complete the broadband assessment which included a comprehensive citizen survey, identification of assets, a review of the county’s broadband demand and the creation of a request for proposals (RFP).
Powhatan followed Virginia's Broadband Toolkit and worked with CIT's broadband team to identify their needs, options and assets leading them to identify SCS Broadband as a private partner to work with to expand broadband access to their unserved areas.
“CIT staff and the Broadband Toolkit provided invaluable support and saved Powhatan County the cost of a consultant by conducting the citizen survey, identifying our assets and guiding us through the RFP process. Sandie Terry and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful,” said Patricia Weiler, Powhatan County Administrator.
