City Bike Designer, Linus Bike, City of Columbus for Launch of Bike-Share Program
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- On July 31, city bike designer, Linus Bike, commends the city of Columbus, Ohio for the launch of their first-ever bike-share program, CoGo.
According to a July 30, 2013 article published on Dispatch.com, entitled, "Pedal on, Columbus! City’s bike-share program up and running," Columbus’ CoGo bike-share program launched Tuesday morning, the 30th, allowing Downtown workers and visitors to ride for a daily fee of six dollars.
The program consists of 30 bike-share locations stretching across city limits from "as far north as the intersection of N. High Street and 2nd Avenue, and as far south as Schiller Park in German Village."
Those who use the program can buy day-passes for $6.00 and annual passes for $75.00. Riders are required to dock their bikes at any of the thirty kiosks every half hour.
Frankie Copper, marketing coordinator for CoGo Bike Share, says, "Basically we want people to think of this as a transit system, going station to station."
As of its launch, the program has 300 bikes but the system could potentially be expanded after officials "analyze ridership numbers and traveling patterns."
One of the main reasons Columbus Michael B. Coleman has pushed cycling is because he believes the city becomes more attractive to young professionals eager for urban living. Jason Latty, a representative of Linus Bike, a city bike designer, agrees. "The cities with the most culture and sense of community are those that embrace cycling as not only a means of transit but as a means of enjoyment. Columbus will definitely see positive effects from the implementation of this bike-share program."
