City of Boulder Launches Online Public Engagement Platform
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) September 14, 2017 -- The city of Boulder has announced the launch of Resilient Together, its online engagement forum where residents are invited to get involved in current projects the city is deploying as part of Resilient Boulder.
One of the projects launched on the platform is designed to address the Ash Borer problem currently infiltrating Boulder. The public is asked to help identify healthy and infected trees through the online platform’s Mapping Tool. Ash trees are one of the most valuable and populus trees in North America but the Emerald Ash Borer insect poses a real threat as they infect Ash trees at a rapid rate and ultimately kill the tree. It’s been estimated that there are 98,000 ash tree’s in Boulder, alone. The information gathered on the forum will ultimately be used to develop an inventory of impacted and healthy Ash trees around Boulder and help put a stop to the issue.
Through their new online public engagement platform, residents will be able to voice opinions and thoughts on various projects such as The Emerald Ash Borer and Boulder Barrels. The information provided to the city will be utilized to help Boulder make more thoughtful citizen- involved decisions concerning issues that are important to sustaining a healthy and thriving community.
“The challenge local government has, and Boulder is no exception, is reaching a broader and more diverse set of community members,” said Boulders Chief Resilience Officer, Greg Guibert. “We cover challenging topics and we’re looking for ways to communicate with our residents.”
Bang the Table’s software, which facilitates Resilient Together through their primary product, EngagementHQ, has been a tremendous help in driving online engagement for the city. “Boulder is taking a lead in government engagement and is proactive in reaching out to citizens,” said Matt Crozier, CEO at Bang the Table. “Boulder is doing good work and we are excited to see a number of cities in Colorado adopt similar online engagement tools to reach their communities.” Crozier said.
