City of San Diego partners with Waggl to increase collaboration and improve service delivery
SAN DIEGO AND SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) June 09, 2016 -- As part of its ongoing efforts to increase collaboration and improve service delivery, the City of San Diego today announced that it will expand its use of Waggl’s crowd-sourcing technology platform.
Building upon its successful use of the Waggl platform in 2015 to support strategic and tactical planning processes within its departments, the eighth largest city in the United States will expand its usage in the coming year to enhance communication with over 10,000 employees in areas like change management, culture building, and engagement. San Diego is also using Waggl to communicate with small business owners about how the City can best support them.
“The City of San Diego recently formalized our vision, mission, and values, and an overarching theme that emerged was that we could provide better service to the people of San Diego through technology,” said David Graham, Deputy Chief Operating Officer for the City of San Diego. “Our goal is to consider the voices of our employees and residents more frequently and more directly to cultivate a more responsive local government. In order to accomplish this, we needed to upgrade our tool set to make use of new communications technologies. Now, one year later, ‘Waggl It’ has entered our city lexicon.”
In 2015, the City of San Diego used Waggl’s innovative crowdsourcing technology to establish a baseline for how engaged city employees are at work. Waggl results were used to calculate an employee Net Promoter Score and source the best ideas on how to improve the way San Diego operates. The City’s Economic Development Department also used Waggl to pose questions to small businesses in San Diego, asking for feedback on how the City could create a fertile environment for start-ups to thrive.
In 2016, the City of San Diego will continue the momentum by using Waggl to give every employee in the City of San Diego an opportunity to contribute their ideas to major change, culture, planning and other city initiatives. Waggl’s platform will then help city officials prioritize feedback by allowing employees to vote up or down on the submitted ideas through a structured and highly engaging experience. Responses will be transparent to all who participate.
“In the midst of an increasingly gridlocked political climate across the country, the City of San Diego serves as a model for how to increase efficiency and productivity in the government sector,” said Michael Papay, CEO of Waggl. “San Diego is very much adopting a ‘customer centric’ mode of governing akin to how businesses in the private sector manage customer satisfaction. The leaders of San Diego recognize that getting feedback from both employees and constituents leads to alignment and higher levels of engagement and performance. It’s really exciting to be part of this process.”
