Civic Works Receives $10,000 Lowe's Community Partners Grant
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) January 05, 2015 -- The Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a $10,000 Lowe’s Community Partners grant to Civic Works for its work weatherizing homes in Baltimore’s low-income Park Heights neighborhood. Funds from the grant will be used to provide free home energy upgrades and weatherization services to ten low-income families living in Park Heights.
The weatherization services provided by Civic Works will include sealing air leaks, installing insulation and improving the efficiency of the home’s appliances. These services will contribute to the long-term financial stability of the households served by reducing residents’ utility bills by an average of 15%. The services will also create a safer indoor living environment by addressing mold and pest problems, eliminating hazardous gas and carbon monoxide leaks, and improving the home’s resilience to extreme weather events.

These funds will be instrumental in helping Civic Works weatherize homes and reduce utility bills for low-income Baltimore families,” stated Dana Stein, Executive Director of Civic Works. “Our mission is to strengthen Baltimore’s communities through education, skills development, and community service. Through the generous support of community-minded organizations like Lowe’s, we are able to make an even greater impact in Baltimore.”
The Lowe’s Community Partners grant program is focused on improving local communities by assisting nonprofit organizations and municipalities with high-need projects ranging from facility and technology upgrades to safety improvements. At many of these grant projects, Lowe’s also provides the hands-on help of Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers.
