Clarion Safety Systems Releases Resource Guide to Help Organizations Implement OSHA’s New Workplace Safety Sign Regulations
Milford, PA (PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- Clarion Safety Systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of safety signs and labels, has released a Resource Guide for Workplace Safety Signs, Labels, Tags and Markings to help organizations implement the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) new workplace safety sign regulations.
OSHA’s regulations, as of September 2013, were updated to integrate the latest American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z535 safety sign and tag technology, which represent industry best practices for visual safety communication. This technology better communicates safety as it: provides critical information needed by viewers to make safe decisions (such as the nature of the hazard, the consequence of interaction with the hazard, and how to avoid the hazard); is supported by human factors research on effective warnings and by modern risk assessment methodologies; accommodates multiple language panels and graphical symbol panels to communicate safety to non-English readers; and meets current legal criteria for “adequate warnings” as defined by the past thirty years of U.S. case law.
Clarion specializes in bringing companies up-to-date with the latest warnings technology and produces a product line of best practice, standards-compliant safety signs, labels, tags and markings. Its Resource Guide – available in both digital and print versions – offers tools to assist environmental, health and safety professionals in meeting safety and compliance objectives in light of the new OSHA ruling. The guide includes:
• An extended introduction with best practice signage guidelines for facilities and workplaces
• A catalog of Clarion’s safety signage product line including: Security and Company Policy; Accident Prevention; Fire Equipment Location; Safety Equipment Location; and Egress Pathmarkings
“Clarion’s safety signs, labels, tags and markings meet the latest OSHA regulation changes. But, more importantly, they do the job of more comprehensively and effectively protecting workers and reducing a company’s liability risk when it comes to guests, subcontractors, and the general public,” says Geoffrey Peckham, CEO of Clarion Safety Systems. “With this Resource Guide, we look forward to providing safety and risk-conscious organizations with the products that best meet today’s more rigorous safety, legal and regulatory challenges.”
Peckham has more than two decades of experience in actively advancing safety communication. He currently serves as chair of the ANSI Z535 Committee for Safety Signs and Colors, chair and delegation head for ANSI to the ISO standards pertaining to safety signs, and has been selected as a member of ISO/PC 283 – Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, a new international occupational health and safety standard to improve workplace safety. Over the last four years, he spearheaded the effort to update OSHA’s standards to better align with the latest advances in safety sign technology in order to better communicate safety in today’s workplaces.
