Claxton Group Partners with GLAAD
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) October 20, 2013 -- Millions wear purple on October 17th every year in honor of Spirit Day, which is meant as a show of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth and to speak out against bullying. Spirit Day was started in 2010 by a high school student as a response to the young people who had taken their own lives because of bullying. The day is observed annually by individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, media professionals and celebrities. This year, real estate development & investment firm, Claxton Group Inc, joins GLAAD in the fight against bullying.
Claxton Group hopes to make a positive change in their communities and inspire family-to-family engagement with hopes of preventing bullying. Claxton Group will distribute anti-bullying handouts to tenants on all of its properties nationwide. The handouts are geared toward educating families on communication and the dangers of bullying inside and outside of the family. On October 17th, all Claxton Group employees will be wearing purple as a show of support for LGBT youth and all those being bullied.
In a statement to all Claxton Group employees, CEO, Eric Claxton said, “With 1 in 3 being bullied, it is likely that this is happening to someone you know and care about. Times have changed and we, as a country, are ready to lead the bullying prevention movement, to own the issue and be the solution. Claxton Group is committed to supporting the communities where we all live, work and play. We are striving to provide an environment in which our staff, families, partners and supporters are treated with dignity and respect. We will not tolerate discrimination, bias, prejudice or harassment of any kind. We are striving to promote unity, respect, fair play, equality and acceptance not only within our company and in our communities, but also in the city of Atlanta and our beautiful home state of Georgia. With everyone’s help, we really can develop the past, into the future.”
