CLEARLINK Plants 1,200 Trees in Four Hours at Parley's Historic Nature Park
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) September 25, 2015 -- Today, CLEARLINK has teamed up with the nonprofit organization TreeUtah to plant more than 1,200 trees — one tree for every employee. More than 100 CLEARLINK and TreeUtah volunteers will be planting trees at Parley’s Historic Nature Park today as a way to reduce employees’ carbon footprints and teambuild with a lasting impact.

By planting 1,200 trees, CLEARLINK will help provide enough oxygen for more than 2,400 people in Salt Lake County. According to research conducted by TreeUtah, a single mature tree can absorb up to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year, adding up to more than a metric ton of absorbed carbon dioxide by the time that tree reaches 40 years old.
"Parley's Historic Nature Park is the Open Space Program's most popular natural area and provides a beautiful setting where bird watchers, dog walkers, and many other users from all over the valley come to recreate,” said Lewis Kogan, Open Space Program manager for Salt Lake Parks and Public Lands. “We're excited to be able to work with TreeUtah and CLEARLINK volunteers to plant young trees, to further our restoration efforts there and enhance the experience for visitors."
With winter around the corner and the harsh inversion soon to follow, trees absorb odors and pollutant gases such as nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone gases, filtering particulates out of the air by trapping the pollutants in their leaves and bark.
Employee Impact:
Throughout the summer, CLEARLINK volunteered with numerous nonprofit organizations across the Wasatch Front. CLEARLINK cleaned up Big Cottonwood Canyon with Save Our Canyons, assisted in elementary school vision screenings with Friends for Sight, and performed standard ranch work in Utah County for Hoofbeats to Healing, Courage Reins and Friends in Need. Finally, they will plant a single tree for every employee at CLEARLINK with TreeUtah.
