Cloud4Wi Wins the Digital360 Award for Retail
SAN FRANCISCO/PISA (PRWEB) July 20, 2016 -- SAN FRANCISCO/PISA – July 20 2016 – Cloud4Wi, provider of the industry’s leading services platform for advanced guest Wi-Fi, today announced that it has been named the winner in the retail category at the prestigious Digital360 Awards. Sponsored by the Digital360 high-tech editorial group, these awards showcase the best digital innovation projects from 50 CIOs of Italy’s largest companies.
Cloud4Wi has been named winner in the retail category due to its role in making the Wi-Life Station project a reality. Executed with the collaboration of Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, the company that manages infrastructure and services on the Italian rail network, and Almaviva, a leader in the ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) sector in Italy, this project is designed to deliver more than free Wi-Fi in every rail station in Italy.
Beyond simple Internet access, travelers leveraging this services platform can get access to high-value location-based services, including a navigator, timetable, travel assistant, and map for various points of interest. Wi-Life Station also allows collecting valuable insights into travelers and their behaviors while in station. Anonymous and aggregated information is available even when travelers are in motion in the station via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth enabled on their device.
“The Wi-Life Station project’s success stems from the vision of Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, which was very focused on creating an innovative solution, but also made sure to involve the stations in the digital transformation process,” said Maurizio Levi, CIO Information & Communication Technology di Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. “Wi-Life Station is the result of a great team effort performed in collaboration with Cloud4Wi and Almaviva. I am proud to see the dream of a smart station in a smart city realized in 11 stations, where digital travelers can find services aligned with their expectations”.
“The strict timeline for project completion was made possible due to the effective cooperation with Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and Cloud4Wi. This makes Wi-Life Station a unique project, combining originality, innovation and operational efficiency,” said Smeraldo Fiorentini, General Director Transportation Division at Almaviva.
The Wi-Life Station project, started in January 2015, was successfully executed in a very short time despite complex scenario required. This shortened time frame was due to several special events (EXPO 2015 and Giubileo) that would require the services that the Wi-Life Stations project provided. Officially started on May 1st 2015, today the service is active in 11 stations, with more than 400000 users connected and more than 6 millions of individual impressions.
“We are honored to be named winner for this prestigious award,” said Andrea Calcagno, CEO and co-Founder of Cloud4Wi. “We are proud that CIOs of some of the biggest Italian companies have recognized our project as a successful example of digital transformation in the retail industry.”
