ClubCorp Charity Classic Philanthropic Program Aims to Donate $2.9 Million to ALS Research and Other Causes this Year
San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) September 11, 2016 -- In partnership with ClubCorp, Augie’s Quest – an aggressive cure-driven effort focused on finding treatments and cures for ALS – announced today that ClubCorp seeks to contribute $2.9 million this year to ALS research and other causes through its philanthropic events program, ClubCorp Charity Classic. The Charity Classic is a series of public events hosted by ClubCorp’s national network of private clubs benefiting three causes: Augie’s Quest, ClubCorp’s Employee Partners Care Foundation (EPCF) and local charities.
This year, approximately 150 Charity Classic events will be held throughout the country, with over 100 of these events held in September, October and November. To date, Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club has raised over $300,000 through their Charity Classic event, making it the top fundraising club within the program this year. In addition, Rolling Green Country Club, a first year club to the program, raised over $100,000 at their event on August 20.
In 2015, the program donated over $2.8 million to Augie’s Quest, EPCF and other charitable organizations. Since 2007, the Charity Classic has raised over $5.7 million net for Augie’s Quest, making ClubCorp the leading corporate supporter of ALS research.
Augie Nieto, founder of Augie’s Quest and person with ALS says, “The ClubCorp Charity Classic is the single largest supporter of ALS research. This partnership has allowed us to bring the most promising drug we've ever tested in our lab forward. Thanks to their members and their employees, I'm hopeful we can find an effective treatment in my lifetime.”
Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp president and CEO, adds, “The ClubCorp Charity Classic and its contributions to Augie’s Quest have always been close to my heart. I am honored to know Augie and I am so proud of the efforts of our clubs, their members and employee partners that allow ClubCorp to help in this very important fight against ALS.”

About Augie’s Quest:
The purpose of Augie’s Quest has always been to fund research and drug development aimed at ending ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease. Since 2007, Augie’s Quest has raised more than $45 million in support of finding effective ALS treatments- making it the largest individual fundraising program for ALS!
All funds raised by Augie’s Quest benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute (http://www.ALS.net), the world’s first and largest nonprofit biotech focused 100 percent on ALS research. Support comes from a huge network of national events and promotions, including the BASH for Augie’s Quest, Tradition of Hope Gala and widely successful campaigns within the very generous fitness industry, such as the Clubs for the Quest, as well as a hugely innovative joint-fundraising initiative called the ClubCorp Charity Classic which benefits Augie's Quest and other local charities chosen by that networks members directly.
