CMA Global reveal their top ten, time management hacks:
Create a daily plan. Get a plan together for the next day the night before, and the brain will wake knowing what lies ahead for the day and will be ready for action. Stick to the plan as closely as possible ensuring the majority of big tasks are complete as early as possible that day.
Peg a time limit to each task. Ensure each job has a start and finish time, this will boost urgency levels, ensuring that sm1all tasks aren't dragged out, consuming time for the rest of the itinerary.
Use a calendar. Be able to access anywhere by synchronizing all calendars, link to a laptop, email and mobile devices. This way no tasks are overlooked and prior planning for any preparation can be done in good time.
Use an organizer. This a fantastic tool for keeping projects and appointments in one place. Find a format appeals personally to boost effectiveness.
Know your deadlines. Keep deadlines in an easy to see area, like a pin board or attached to a laptop screen. Be clear on the time scale, and attempt to complete the day before.
Learn to say "No." Be mindful to not over commit, by taking on projects that time constraints won't allow will only add stress and cause another project to suffer or even become incomplete.
Target to be early. Always aim to complete first, this allows for any issues or obstacles to be solved ensuring work is still completed on time.
Timebox your activities. Place a stop clock on the desk, use it to ensure that projects are being set realistic timescales. For operations that are running past allocated time, ensure extra time is allocated.
Focus. Avoid multitasking, scientists have proven that trying to work on multiple projects can be detrimental to success.
