CME Outfitters Announces New Live and On Demand Activity on Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) December 08, 2016 -- CME Outfitters (CMEO), a leading accredited provider in continuing medical education, announces a new Live and On Demand activity on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) entitled, Bringing Health Care Providers Together to Diagnose and Treat Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Although the most common of the restrictive lung diseases, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a rare but deadly disease, affecting an estimated 6.8 to 42.7 per 100,000 people, with higher rates in those older than 65 years, and resulting in approximately 40,000 deaths annually in the United States.
Education to community pulmonologists, radiologists, and primary care physicians, as well as the multidisciplinary team is important to increase knowledge related to recognition and diagnosis. Clinicians need to be aware of when to refer patients with potential IPF to specialty centers with pulmonologists, radiologists, and pathologists specialized in interstitial lung disease (ILD). All providers in the multidisciplinary and multispecialty treatment team need education related to recent ATS/ERS/JRS/ALAT guidelines and mechanisms of action for the approved treatments for IPF.
Baseline data of self-reported gaps in care and skills in recognition, referral, and treatment of IPF will be at the forefront of this CME Outfitters Live and On Demand activity. Expert faculty, including Steven D. Nathan, MD, FCCP and Paul W. Noble, MD, will highlight the latest evidence and guidelines for IPF including when to refer and best treatment approach.
At the end of this activity – supported by educational grants from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Genentech - participants should be able to identify the signs and symptoms of IPF, outline the red flags that would trigger an expeditious referral of a patient with dyspnea to a multidisciplinary team, and combine information derived from guidelines and studies of newly approved and emerging therapies in identifying a treatment approach for the patient with IPF.
Following the live webcast, the expert faculty will host a live Q&A session during which participants can call or send in their questions directly to the experts and find the answers they’ve been looking for. Registration is open and is free of charge after complimentary account activation at http://www.cmeoutfitters.com/CM20184.
The premiere date of this live activity is Wednesday, January 18th, 2017 at 12:00pm ET, with the Q&A session beginning at 1:00pm and ending at 1:30pm. A taped re-air will play at 4:00pm - 5:30pm ET and an enduring On Demand webcast will be launched at a later date. For more information on this activity or to register, click here.
