CMedia Creative Makes Content for Sonoma County Biz, from the Boob Tube to YouTube
Santa Rosa, CA (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- Last month CMedia, the rebranded and renewed Community Media Center of the North Bay, launched its creative services division, CMedia Creative.
With a special interest in local business and nonprofit clients, the focus of the new in-house digital agency is creating custom video content for both online and broadcast outlets – from the Boob Tube to YouTube. Recent clients include La Tortilla Factory and the Sonoma County Tourism Bureau. The company also produces government-themed content for municipalities including the City of Santa Rosa.
“Nonprofits such as ours have to become more and more self-sufficient. Our in-house staff are all media professionals, so it was logical to complement the services that have sustained us through our institutional clients and attract clients from the broader business community,” says newly-appointed executive director Daedalus Howell, whose own video work has been distributed internationally on Showtime Next, MTV2, MTV Italia, HBO Cesk Republika, BiteTV, IFC and Canal+. Prior to joining CMedia, Howell ran FMRL, an award-winning Berkeley-based creative agency.
Patronage of CMedia Creative directly underwrites CMedia Labs, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides media technology and training to the diverse communities of Sonoma County. Since joining the media center six months ago Howell has implemented a number of internal changes to foster the nonprofit’s independence from traditional funding models.
“In the coming months we hope to offer expanded content programs that make use of one of our four cable broadcast channels through branded shows, paid acknowledgements and video-on-demand offerings optimized for phones and tablets,” says Howell. “Video production companies used to offer ‘script to screen’ services, now it’s ‘draft to device.’”
