(PRWEB) August 11, 2015 -- 12 Quorum Health Resources client hospitals received five-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) first-ever Hospital Compare Star Ratings list including: Abbeville Area Medical Center (SC), Androscoggin Valley Hospital (NH), Clay County Hospital (AL), Fort Madison Community Hospital (IA), Jersey Shore Hospital (PA), King’s Daughters Medical Center (MS), Lawrence Memorial Hospital (KS), Magnolia Regional Health Center (MS), Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center (KS), North Valley Hospital (MO), Phelps Memorial Health Center (NA), USMD Hospital (TX),Valley View Hospital (CO) and Wooster Community Hospital (OH).
A total of 251 hospitals were awarded five-star ratings, which is approximately seven percent of the nation's hospitals. The Hospital Compare Star Ratings relate to patients’ experience of care at almost 3,500 Medicare-certified acute care hospitals. The ratings are based on data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey (HCAHPS) measures that are reported in Hospital Compare. HCAHPS has been in use since 2006 to measure patient’s perspectives of hospital care.
“We are honored that Abbeville Area Medical Center was one of only four hospitals in South Carolina to receive a Five Star patient experience rating and that Health Related Home Care, our home health agency, was the only agency in South Carolina to receive a Five Star quality rating by CMS,” stated Rich Osmus, Abbeville Area Medical Center CEO. “These ratings demonstrate our dedication to continuously improve the patient experience and quality of care delivered to our patients.”
"Five-star quality ratings from CMS are extremely valuable as more consumers use ratings and scores to help make healthcare decisions," said Quorum President and CEO Mickey Bilbrey. “We are proud to see Quorum client hospitals be recognized for their significant efforts to ensure positive patient experiences.”
CMS plans to provide quarterly updates on the rankings. For more information please visit: http://www.cms.gov/Newsroom/MediaReleaseDatabase/Fact-sheets/2015-Fact-sheets-items/2015-04-16.html.
