CNTA Clarified Common Misunderstandings about Travelling in Tibet in Winter
Lhasa, Tibet (PRWEB) October 23, 2014 -- Quite a few tourists had the misconception that the freezing weather was simply not suitable for tourists to visit Tibet in winter. To clarify some of the common misunderstandings, Dujiang, Vice Director of China National Tourism Administration, talked to the press and explained the advantages and highlights of travelling in Tibet in winter.
“Unlike the common misunderstandings, travelling in Tibet in winter actually enjoyed some unexpected bonuses,” said Dujiang, Vice Director of China National Tourism Administration. Let’s start with major tourist attractions in Lhasa. Hot Places like Potala Palace, Jokhang, and Barkhor Street welcome tourists all year round, not confined to weather change at all. Besides, the ticket of Potala Palace would have been 100 RMB less, and was readily available, which was more convenient than in peak season.
Tourists could enjoy a relaxing afternoon by sipping sweet tea and chatting with friends in a local sweet tea house in Lhasa. If tourists fancy hot springs, they could go to the world-renown hot spring resort---Yangpachen Hot Springs.
Another all-year-round tourist draw was in Shannan prefecture in Tibet. The typical scenic spots were Yungbulakang Palace and Samye Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery built in Tibet. In addition, the winter travel in Shigatse was also fairly popular. Tourists could visit the sacred turquoise Yamdrok Lake, majestic Tashilhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by Gendun Drup and breathtaking Karuola Glacier in Nagarze County Picture.
Furthermore, tourists could travel to Nyingtri prefecture, also known as "The Switzerland of Tibet." Due to its relatively low altitude, Nyingtri featured mild weather, a well-preserved forest, Draksum-tso, Sacred lake of Nyingma Sect, Brahmaputra River Grand Canyon, etc.
