CNTS Awarded $40 Million Contract Supporting U.S. Military Through Global Public Health
Catoosa, OK (PRWEB) December 16, 2013 -- Cherokee Nation Technology Solutions, a division of Cherokee Nation Businesses, was recently awarded a $40 million contract supporting the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center. CNTS is providing surveillance and analysis of potential global health threats associated with emerging infectious diseases facing the U.S. military and its allies.
“We are forever grateful for all that our military forces do to serve our country, and we are honored to have the opportunity to assist in protecting them in return,” said Bill John Baker, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. “Increasing awareness and understanding of potential health threats is the first step in disease prevention and this new contract positions CNTS to continue its proactive approach to improving global health.”
The two-year contract supports the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of the integrated global surveillance and response system. The complex surveillance databases provided by CNTS are shared in The Medical Surveillance Monthly Report to develop innovative policies that improve the global public health system. The report is the primary source for health surveillance information throughout the Department of Defense and its partners overseas.
“CNTS is one of our fastest growing companies within our diversified businesses,” said Steven Bilby, president of CNB’s diversified businesses. “This new work speaks volumes to the quality of services provided by CNTS and is a shining example of how our businesses look for and seize opportunities to add value to our customers.”
The Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center is the central epidemiological resource and global health surveillance proponent for the U.S. Armed Forces. The AFHSC provides timely, relevant, actionable, and comprehensive health surveillance information to promote, maintain, and enhance the health of military and military-associated populations.
