Willie Dutch who derived his name from the great soul singer, Willie Hutch, and Dutch Masters cigars, was born Edward Hubbard in Houston TX just over 30 years ago. Witnessing the murder of his mother by his biological father, Willie was introduced to violence at the tender age of two years old. Though his grandparents raised him to be an athletic leader and a straight “A” student they could not contain Willie’s attraction to the street life of violence and drugs.
Willie found great financial success in the drug game making more money than he had ever dreamed but like so many misguided youth the lifestyle caught up with him, landing him in state prison and eventually federal prison. Serving a sentence that would last over 9 years, Willie found his identity in prison realizing his talents for writing. While in prison Willie released a mixtape, published two novels, and wrote for several magazines.
Released in 2011, Willie has found his purpose and within the first year home has released 5 mixtapes, a short story, and a novel. Here to share his experience and creativity with the world, Willie Dutch is a survivor in the true meaning of the word. Finding the lessons in his past has shaped Willie into the positive person he is today put on this earth to teach those who walk a similar path as an author, an artist, a magazine columnist, an entertainment personality, and survivor.
