COEBO, The Credentialing of Ethical Behavioral Organizations, has Credentialed a New Member to the COEBO Community
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 18, 2017 -- The COEBO Code or Code of Ethics for Behavioral Organizations is used to ensure that organizations develop and maintain ethical administrative supports to guide their employees toward ethical clinical and educational practices. The COEBO Code began originally as a seven item document created by Jon S. Bailey, PhD, BCBA-D that served as an attestation that all organizations that provide behavior analysis services would agree to follow. Over time the document became a movement rallying behavior analysts from around the world to help spread the word about a Code of Ethics for Behavioral Organizations (COEBO Code).
Commonwealth Autism is located in Richmond, Virginia. Its mission is to build the capacity of the autism service provider network through partnership and collaboration. The organization was formed by a visionary group of parents of children with autism who recognized significant service gaps in their state of Virginia for people with autism. Autism had no home within state government. There was no designated agency responsible for services to individuals with autism. These parents approached the General Assembly for a state appropriation to begin the tasks to support their mission. The Autism Program of Virginia (TAP-VA), as the organization was initially known, was under the umbrella of the ARC of Virginia. In January 2004, the organization changed its name to Commonwealth Autism Service. In 2009, the organization received a grant from Autism Speaks to expand the reach of these efforts to families across the Commonwealth. This year, to better serve their respective missions, Commonwealth Autism merged with Richmond House, a provider of residential and community supports for adults with Asperger’s Syndrome and High Functioning Autism.
