College Football Performance Awards Announces 2013 Recipients
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) January 09, 2014 -- College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) today announced its 2013 recipients. Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston earned the 2013 CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy, while Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams earned the 2013 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy.
Winston is the second player to earn the CFPA National Freshman Performer of the Year Trophy and CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy in the same season, following 2012 CFPA winner Johnny Manziel. 2013 CFPA Punt Returner Trophy winner Ryan Switzer and 2013 CFPA Tight End Trophy winner Jace Amaro produced the strongest annual performances at their respective positions in CFPA history.
2013 CFPA National Defensive Performer of the Year Shilique Calhoun received the CFPA Trophy in the Breslin Center during Tuesday's nationally-ranked basketball game against Ohio State. After hoisting the award, Calhoun took a victory lap and celebrated with the Izzone student section.
Vanderbilt wide receiver Jordan Matthews and Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr accepted 2013 CFPA honors at home men's basketball games, as well.
