College of Southern Idaho is the Tenth Institution to Partner with MyForce— Providing Protection On and Off Campus, 24/7 Nationwide
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- College of Southern Idaho (often referred to as CSI) and its Security Department have partnered with MyForce to provide a proactive personal safety service that will immediately protect CSI students, their families, alumni, faculty and staff with just a touch of a button on supported iPhone, Android or BlackBerry smartphones.
CSI is one of many schools, including the University of Mississippi and University of South Alabama, that has integrated the MyForce Campus System into its existing campus safety programs, giving the CSI Security Department direct and immediate access to incident information for any MyForce alert triggered on their main campus.
“Recently, a security assessment of the College of Southern Idaho’s regional off-campus centers was performed. It was determined that they had no immediately available method of seeking assistance from emergency responders in criminal or medical related incidents. Several methods of emergency communications were analyzed including traditional ‘blue light’ emergency phones, dial-up duress hardware and several smartphone based applications. Based upon a combination of initial installation costs, recurring monthly monitoring fees, availability of use off-campus, coordination with our in-house security organization and ease of operation for the user, CSI chose to partner with MyForce for our Personal Emergency Notification System. We subsequently tested the system and found that it met all of our requirements for students, staff and faculty to summon emergency responders. A few operational issues arose during the testing phase, and we found MyForce to be very responsive in addressing them. We believe that the MyForce service is the best system for our organization. It will provide another needed layer of protection for our campus community,” provided by Jim Ellington, Public Safety Director at College of Southern Idaho.
A MyForce member is able to send an alert from a smartphone directly to the CSI Security Department. The Security Department immediately assesses the situation through the MyForce Campus System by listening to audio, viewing the user’s profile, and locating the member via GPS—allowing the CSI Security Department to provide on-location assistance faster and more efficiently. If a member triggers a MyForce alert off campus or from one of CSI’s regional off-campus centers, the MyForce monitoring team coordinates the response with local authorities in the member’s area, providing security both on and off campus, 24/7 nationwide.
MyForce members NEVER WALK ALONE™. Unlike other personal safety offerings, MyForce allows a member to get help from a trained, professional security team that is UL listed and recognized as a Five Diamond Central Station by the industry. By touching a single button on a smartphone, the user instantaneously transmits all of the information necessary to get help: personal information provided at registration (name, photo, phone number, emergency contacts, and known safety issues), audio of what is happening, and real-time GPS location information. Emergency responders don’t have to waste time asking questions, but instead act swiftly and efficiently to provide an emergency response to the user’s exact location.
“MyForce is ideal for all those situations where you feel a concern for your safety, but it doesn’t make sense to call 911: walking alone at night, going to unfamiliar places, or meeting unfamiliar people. We often rely on calling friends or family members to be on the phone with us in these situations, but these well-intentioned people are not necessarily the best people to come to our aid or provide help if needed. MyForce connects its members to a professionally trained monitoring team,” said Brad Zotti, MyForce Chief Executive Officer. “With MyForce, our members never have to walk alone. We’re with you.”
All users can try the MyForce service free for 30 days. Thereafter, memberships are available on a monthly or annual basis. College of Southern Idaho is the tenth entity in the nation to integrate the free MyForce Campus System into its existing safety program. Parents, students and faculty associated with CSI can sign up at a discounted rate through the school.
