Colorado’s Anna Cash Mitchell and “Warp”—Reimagining the traditional flat rectangular canvas
Golden, Colorado (PRWEB) August 27, 2014 -- Kanon Collective located in Denver’s Santa Fe Art District is pleased to present Warp, a solo exhibition of new work by Anna Cash-Mitchell. Please join us on Friday September 5, from 5-10 p.m., for the exhibition opening and to meet the artist.
Warp is Anna Cash-Mitchell’s latest adventure in what defines her as an artist. The show reimagines the traditional flat rectangular canvas as sculpture, full of dimension and movement. This playful experiment twists heavy cotton canvas into flowing forms like the draping of a well-cut dress. Combining sewing and patterning techniques to build the structure is a reminder that canvas is fabric with flex and stretch, a warp and weft.
Anna grew up in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies where she earned a BA in Fine/Studio Arts and a Master of Humanities at the University of Colorado, Denver. Her education as an artist also included a summer painting intensive in Feltre, Italy.
The “Warp” exhibition runs from September 5 through September 28, 2014. For more information go to https://www.facebook.com/studioacm
