Colossal Rubber Ducky Joins San Francisco’s Ride The Ducks Fleet
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) June 05, 2015 -- For the first time in the company’s history, Ride The Ducks of San Francisco has transformed one of its boats into a rubber ducky replica, named “Daisy.” Ride The Ducks, the only land and sea attraction in San Francisco, will include Daisy in its fleet just in time for summer travelers to enjoy.
Visitors to San Francisco and local Ride The Ducks fans who spot Daisy on the streets of the city or splashing down into the San Francisco Bay will be prompted to snap a photo of the boat and include the hashtag #LuckyDuckSF. Those who tag their photo on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with this hashtag will be entered to win free passes for Ride The Ducks. A sticker on the side of the boat provides details for passersby.
To create Daisy, a special vinyl coating was used to paint the eyes and mouth of the duck, as well as a wrap around the boat. Due to harsh salt-water conditions, four coats of paint were applied to protect the boat from rusting. The painting was done by Strehle's Body Shop in Oakland and Ride The Ducks created the design in-house. Daisy’s yellow color was matched to a collection of rubber duckies from all over the world that reside in the Ride The Ducks office.
“Each of our partners in cities across the country have their own personality, and we wanted to create a special boat that would represent San Francisco’s fun-loving vibe,” said Chris Connors, General Manager of Ride The Ducks of San Francisco. “We thought there was no better way to show our guests to a good time than offering them a chance to actually ride a rubber ducky in real life. That’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
Ride The Ducks offers 90-minute tours of the city, beginning at Fisherman’s Wharf and ending with a splash into the San Francisco Bay. The ducks visit many of San Francisco’s most sought after neighborhoods and attractions, including Union Square, North Beach, Ghirardelli Square, and AT&T Park. Daisy will be available upon request for private charters and will be included in the rotation of Ride The Ducks tours.
