COMLINK Completes Healthcare Network, Launches Medisphere to Connect Providers

COMLINK’s healthcare network was initially constructed as part of the Rural Health Care Pilot Program (RHCPP), a federal government initiative that was conceived in 2006 to provide an infrastructure to connect rural healthcare providers to their urban counterparts. COMLINK was awarded the contract by the Michigan Public Health Institute to deploy a multimillion-dollar optical broadband network to connect public and non-profit healthcare facilities in underserved areas of Michigan.
The completion of the network marks the end of a process of more than three years that involved extensive network and service modeling by COMLINK experts, contracting with healthcare providers, an extensive network construction process to provide the high-speed networking services necessary to enable healthcare providers to exchange and access pertinent data in real time between their facilities.
COMLINK also announced the launch of Medisphere, which is powered by COMLINK to provide the high-speed networking services and the development of a sophisticated online resource for healthcare providers to help them analyze traffic, network and service performance, and configuration of the equipment at their facilities. COMLINK’s Medisphere network ecosystem now connects well over 100 facilities that currently participate, with more healthcare facilities joining every day.
