New York, NY (PRWEB) October 12, 2016 -- Children’s book author and dedicated Little League coach Kevin Christofora helped his children with their homework every night after Little League practice. With each child, it was the same story: Common Core was hard and not very enjoyable.
Recognizing that Common Core Math lesson plans could use a little more fun, he hired multiple teachers from around the country to help him develop baseball-themed lesson plans. Christofora says, “When you’re counting things like bats, hats, or crackerjacks, it keeps it fun.” He adds, “It is also our hope that by developing lesson plans with themes that encourage kids to get outside and play, they will actually do so—and, hopefully, without a device to play more phone games while they’re outside.”
By making Common Core enjoyable, it makes it easier for students to learn and for parents to follow along with. Christofora’s lesson plans make Common Core more relatable, and, in doing so, makes it easier to teach. It is also his hope that teachers will be able to keep the lesson plans on hand for whenever they have a substitute, so that they will not only be prepared to handle the class, they will also be prepared to handle Common Core.
Christofora and his team of teachers are developing more lesson plans, with plans for reading comprehension, spelling, science, and history in the pipeline. His lesson plans are currently available at http://www.thehometownallstars.com and multiple teacher websites at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com.
Christofora, a father and little league coach, hopes his books will inspire children to play outside more often. A devotee of America's pastime, he aims to teach young people about baseball and the habits of a healthy lifestyle in the form of a fun and educational bedtime story. He has appeared on ABC Television, ESPN Radio, 660 News Radio, Santa Fe - KVSF 101.5, and WDST-FM Woodstock, and has had articles featured in About Families Online, KidzEdge, Mom Blog Society, and several other publications.
