Communities In Schools Announces “All In For Student” Honorees
Arlington, Va. (PRWEB) May 10, 2017 -- Communities In Schools ( CIS), the national organization that works inside schools empowering at-risk students to achieve in school and succeed in life, today announced the list of honorees who will be recognized with “All In For Students Awards” at the organization’s 40th Anniversary celebration.
The awards ceremony will be held Thursday May 11, 2017 in Los Angeles and honor national legislative, community and corporate leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to helping more at-risk students stay in school, graduate and go on to brighter futures.
Honorees include:
- Legislative Champion Award: U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) for their leadership in the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
- Local Philanthropic Leader Award: Richard Lovett, President, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), for his longstanding national and local support of Communities In Schools
- Corporate Champion Award: AT&T for its steadfast commitment to advancing education, strengthening communities and improving lives through its signature philanthropic initiative, AT&T Aspire.
“Throughout its history, CIS has relied on the power of many – working together – to transform the lives of students,” said Communities In Schools President and CEO Dale Erquiaga. “The All In for Students Awards celebrates that spirit of making a difference.”
“Thank you for this award, but I really would like to thank you for the work you’ve been doing to help students succeed,” said U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander. “With the support of so many people including organizations like CIS, we were able to pass the education law and now my job is to work to ensure the law is implemented as Congress wrote and intended it. We can work together to improve schools state by state, community by community, classroom by classroom. I believe your organization and your important work will continue to make a difference in Tennessee and across the United States.”

The “All In For Students” Awards ceremony will also include recognition of CIS staff, alumni and educators and also serve as a celebration of the organization’s 40th anniversary. The ceremony will follow a Town Hall Conference earlier in the week where CIS leaders from across the country will join prominent education thought leaders, policy makers and key school district leaders to discuss community solutions to help at-risk students.
