Community Foundation Launches “Good Works” Video Project
Horseheads, NY (PRWEB) December 08, 2015 -- Today, Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes launched “Good Works,” a 4-part video series highlighting unique philanthropic efforts by small groups and individuals. The first video, “Life’s A Stage,” features residents in Altay, NY (Schuyler County) working together to restore their Community Hall to the lively hub it once was. The video is currently active on the Community Foundation website at http://www.communityfund.org/good-works, on their Facebook page, and on the Community Foundation YouTube Channel.
“The goal of ‘Good Works’ is to provide insight into the world of giving,” said Randi Hewit, President of Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes. “Philanthropy isn’t only for the rich; anyone can make a big impact when they see a problem and take a step towards fixing it.”
Throughout the campaign, the stories of four organizations will be told in 4- to 5-minute videos. The first focuses on the Community Hall in Altay, NY. The second, scheduled for release on Thursday, December 10, features Milly’s Pantry in Penn Yann, NY. The third, featuring TLC TNR, a nonprofit organization aimed at safely controlling the cat population throughout the region, comes out on Thursday, December 17. The final video will be released on Wednesday, December 23, and will highlight the KRAMER Foundation for therapy and rehab dogs.
“Our vision is for the community to come together around these stories and acknowledge the efforts of their neighbors who are improving the region in unique ways,” said Hewit. “We hope to inspire more people to take action in small ways and watch their impact grow exponentially.”
