Community Foundation Releases “Here Kitty Kitty,” the Third Video in the Organization's Good Works Series
Horseheads, NY (PRWEB) December 22, 2015 -- On Thursday, Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes released the third video in a four-part series called “Good Works.” This video, Here Kitty Kitty, features TLC TNR, a nonprofit organization that aims to reduce the overpopulation of stray and feral cats by trapping and spaying / neutering them before releasing the cats back into their neighborhood. Carmela Bertron, president of TLC TNR, is shown in the video helping families and individuals who want a humane solution for their feline visitors.
TLC TNR ostensibly stands for “Tender, Love, and Care; Trap ‘n Release.” Bertron started the organization when she noticed some cats in her own neighborhood and wanted to provide them with food and care, but did not want her yard to become overrun with litter after litter. She spent her own time and money trapping the cats and bringing them to a local humane society for a safe operation. After several people heard the story, they began asking for her help in their own yards and neighborhoods.
“Carmela is a perfect example of someone who saw an opportunity to fix a small problem and did something about it,” said Randi Hewit, President of Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes. “She has tirelessly helped others do the same, making a difference by preventing a much larger problem from affecting more people and more animals.”
Here Kitty Kitty is the third in the four-part video series from the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes. The final video featuring the KRAMER Foundation, a nonprofit that rehabilitates and trains service and therapy dogs, comes out on Wednesday, December 23. “Our vision is for the community to come together around these stories and acknowledge the efforts of our neighbors who are improving the region in unique ways,” said Hewit. “We hope to inspire more people to take action in small ways and watch their impact grow exponentially.”
