Companies in Austin Celebrate Corporate Wellness at Spring Fit Company Challenge
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) April 26, 2017 -- On April 8, 2017 over 300 participants from 22 companies located in the Austin Texas area took part in the Fit Company Challenge, a corporate wellness event hosted by the Fit Company Institute. The challenge provided area companies an opportunity to come together as a team and spend a morning exercising, pushing their physical and mental limits and showing the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Companies split their team into squads of 3 to 4 people who worked together to complete a variety of fitness stations to challenge their fitness level and earn points for their company. Teams chose what level to go through each course which allowed participants of all fitness levels to push their physical fitness without going too far out of their comfort zone.
In their 1st time participating in the challenge, Volusion, LLC took 1st place overall bringing out over 25 team members to conquer the Fit Company Challenge. From team co-captains Danielle Reeves, and Francesca Hernandez, “The Fit Company Challenge was a rewarding experience for the Volusion team. We partnered with Fit Company to find the perfect trainer who worked with our employees at our office gym; this was a great way to help them prepare. Ultimately, the event facilitated cross-functional teamwork and helped reinforce the importance of exercise for overall well-being. Most importantly - we had FUN! Thank you for inviting us to participate!"
With a strong team effort, Velocity Credit Union took 2nd place overall. Lisa Back, executive vice president/CFO and participant said, “This was our second time to participate and we were so proud to show up 28 strong and place second overall. It was a great team-building experience and falls right in line with the company’s focus on wellness.”
In their 2nd time participating Torchy’s Tacos jumped from 5th place in the medium division in 2016 to 1st place in the medium division in the Spring 2017 Challenge. “We really enjoyed the event this year for a number of reasons,” said team captain Jeremy Smith. “Our company’s participation was larger with many new faces that were eager to challenge themselves. And the Fit Company Challenge staff was great and made sure we had a good time and moved through the event on time and in an efficient manner. Overall we were really happy with the event, and proud that we came in 1st place in our division. We look forward to bringing a larger team next year and maintaining our 1st place status!"
On event date, with the help of over 30 volunteers assisting the contenders from Texas State Department of Health and Human Performance and FIT Austin (http://www.fitaustin.com), participants challenged their strength, conditioning, power, agility, and ended with a test of endurance to show their companies and colleagues that they practice what they preach. Participants used their involvement to bring out company team members, and family members to cheer them on and promote the importance of having fun and effective corporate wellness programs at their companies. The challenge was sponsored by KIND Bars who kept the participants and spectators fueled throughout the morning.
The challenge was held at the Austin Athletics Office Multipurpose field, located a short drive from downtown Austin.
