Company Creates a Crowdfunding Project on Kickstarter to Help Save the Fish
Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) June 08, 2015 -- In an effort to help save the world’s fish population, a new company is launching a healthy and fish friendly alternative to fish oil. Envision Naturals has created a hemp seed oil in soft gel form that provides consumers with the Omega Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) they require for a proper diet without the side effects associated with fish oil. Their Save the Fish Hemp Oil is an omega food with a purpose: a truly sustainable product designed to nurture the body while protecting vanishing ocean fish stocks.
Envision Naturals in an effort to increase awareness for their product and raise some initial capital have launched a KickStarter campaign (http://kck.st/1eQ9EBc). The campaign will run until July 3, 2015 and the goal is to raise CDN$75,000 to finance the first production run. Most backers will receive at least a one month supply of Save the Fish Hemp Oil. However, the company is also trying to pull at people’s heart-strings by asking for a simple donation to help them launch their product on a mass-scale, which they say will cut down the overexploitation of fish.
“It is about providing an environmentally friendly, healthy product that will help people,” said Chris Dollard, co-founder of Envision Naturals. “The growing awareness of the importance of Omega EFAs has led to an explosion in their consumption but this explosion is not without its risks. It is our goal to mitigate these risks to the environment and provide people with an alternative that gives them the Omega EFAs they require.”
Research shows that over 25% of the global fish stocks are now overexploited and in the case of the Atlantic Menhaden, which has been targeted so well for its omega oil, its population has declined by 86% over the past 25 years.
“We realized something needed to be done and figured there had to be an alternative,” said Anton Mattadeen, co-founder of Envision Naturals. “We partnered with a researcher at the University of BC and realized that hemp could provide that solution.”
Hemp, which the company is quick to point out is not marijuana, has provided humans with a highly nutritional food - among many other uses for textiles, paper and construction - for thousands of years. Hemp seed oil is made from cold-pressed hemp seeds and is widely considered to be one of the best food sources of EFAs for the human body, delivering all of the Omega requirements to maintain good health. It is vegan-friendly, and is certified organic by Pro-Cert Organic Systems Ltd. (Pro-Cert), certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union (OU), and certified Halal by the Halal Product Development Services (HPDS).
Furthermore, with the resurgence of hemp farming in North America, family farms can take on a new cash crop that delivers 4 times the income of wheat, while consuming 1/2 the water - an important choice in the climate change era. Hemp also helps rejuvenate the soil, and is a carbon-negative crop - helping the environment in many ways.
The company believes it has found an environmentally healthy solution for people who use Omega EFA products. With a successful KickStarter campaign the company plans to move into broader production and has future goals to both partner with and provide funding to groups and individuals who are working to save the environment and the ocean.
