CompareMyMobile Reveal The UK’s Greenest Towns Which Are Most Likely to Cash in on Old Gadgets
Bournemouth, Dorset (PRWEB UK) 30 January 2014 -- Gadget recycling comparison site CompareMyMobile, has collected data from over 500,000 people – showing the UK towns which are most likely to value, and trade-in, their old electronics.
Main points:
- Under a quarter of Londoners getting prices for their old gadgets will actually go on to trade-in, while almost a third from Liverpool will.
- People from the North and Midlands are more likely to trade-in old electronics, than those from the South of the UK.
- People from Stratford-Upon-Avon are most likely to trade-in old devices – 43.63 percent, while Mitcheldean residents are the least tempted to recycle old devices – 10.09 percent
- None of the top 20 most aware of gadget recycling, are also on the list of top 20 most likely to trade-in.
Data from CompareMyMobile’s research showed that Stratford-Upon-Avon is the UK’s greenest town when it comes to recycling old electronics – with 43.63 percent of people, who come on to the site to value their phone, going on to trade in. Perth, in Scotland, followed in second – with 32.29 percent of people going on to trade-in.
Data shows that towns in the North and Midlands were more likely to cash in on old gadgets than those in the South of the UK.

1. Stratford-Upon-Avon – 43.63 percent*
2. Perth – 39.29 percent*
3. Lichfield – 37.74 percent*
4. Dunfermline – 37.68 percent
5. Walton-on-Thames – 37.47 percent*
6. Bracknell – 36.58 percent*
7. Basingstoke – 36.31 percent*
8. Barnstaple – 36.18 percent*
9. Weston-Super-Mare – 36.13 percent*
10. Salford – 35.97 percent*

The site says that the list of top ten towns most likely to trade-in, does not correlate with the towns most aware of gadget recycling. For example, 11.57 percent of the population of Mitcheldean (according to 2011 census data) valued their phone on CompareMyMobile – but only 10.09 percent of those visitors went on to trade-in.
Top five UK towns using CompareMyMobile to get prices for their old devices:
1. Brasted Parish – 56.06 percent**, 29.08 percent went on to trade-in
2. Poplar – 19.88 percent**, 21.5 percent went on to trade-in
3. West Malling – 17.26 percent**, 32.61 percent went on to trade-in
4. Mitcheldean – 11.57 percent**, 10.09 percent went on to trade-in
5. Teddington – 10.26 percent**, 21.11 percent went on to trade-in

In fact, CompareMyMobile found, that none of the UK towns on the list of top twenty most likely to value their phone, and therefore most aware of phone recycling, were on the list of top twenty trading in.
Data from the site shows that these towns were actually among the UK towns least likely to recycle. Mitcheldean, Waltham Cross, Aveley, Wembley and Teddington are all in the list of top twenty most aware of gadget recycling, as well as the top twenty least likely to cash in.

9. Leatherhead – 18.01 percent***
10. Clydebank – 18.17 percent***

CompareMyMobile hope that by releasing these figures it will spur on the towns, which are less likely to trade-in, to be more proactive about electronic recycling.
