Composite Decking Manufacturer Saves Christmas...In June
Stevenage, Herts (PRWEB UK) 18 November 2014 -- Stevenage based composite decking manufacturer Timco Wood has been involved in this year's ITV Text Santa Christmas charity campaign. They aided with the planning, supply and installation of decking at Haven House Children's Hospice in Woodford Green, Essex.
Composite decking manufacturer, Timco Wood was asked to be part of this year's ITV Text Santa campaign. As part of the popular 60 Minute Makeover programme, they came on board as the decking supplier for the Christmas special. Due to the nature of the programme schedule, filming actually took place in June - complete with reindeer, snow machines and Christmas dinner!
However, things did not initially go to plan. The main focus of the revamp at Haven House Children's Hospice in Woodford Green, Essex was a 35 sq metre extension deck to give children a greater play area in front of the Buddy Hut which was also to be re-decorated. The show producers were struggling to find a decking supplier who could supply large amounts of decking in a short space of time and who could also be involved in the planning of the build.
When Timco Wood were contacted they were not only able to supply the decking within three days, in time for filming, but they were also able to assist the contractors and the environmental staff in charge of the arboretum where the deck was to be built. This meant that the design of the deck was agreed upon quickly so that the delicate low-lying tree roots, including from a tree which had been planted by Margaret Thatcher, were unaffected by the building process.
Timco Wood staff attended on the day of filming and helped with the deck construction. Of course, they enjoyed Christmas dinner in the sunshine with the rest of the crew too!
The day was a success with hospice staff commenting how the new look Buddy Hut and the deck had transformed the atmosphere of the whole hospice itself.
Stephen Barrow, Timco Wood Sales Director commented that, "We were just glad to have helped. It was great to be part of the day, to help make Christmas in June for the kids. But we also wanted to do more than that so we have donated additional boards that can be used elsewhere in the hospice for the benefit of everyone."
The Christmas special of 60 Minute Makeover is due to air on 19 December 2014 as part of this year's ITV Text Santa Christmas Charity campaign.
