New York, NY (PRWEB) June 15, 2015 -- This year will be the 13th time in history that the CONCACAF Gold Cup will be played and this year the tournament will be played in the United States and Canada, with this being the first time ever that matches will be held in the latter. Twelve nations will compete in the event across 14 host cities in three groups with matches beginning on July 7th with the championship being held on July 26th in Philadelphia.

In Group A, the United States, Panama, Haiti, and Honduras will compete at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX; Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA; and Sporting Park in Kansas City, KA. Group B will see Costa Rica, El Salvador, Jamaica, and Canada competing at the StubHub Center in Carson; CA; BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, TX; and BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The final group of the tournament, Group C, will feature Mexico, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago, and Cuba competing at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL; University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ; and Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.
In the group stage, each team will play the other teams with the ultimate goal being advancement to the Knockout Stage. The quarterfinal round of the event will be played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD; and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA will be the site of the two semifinal matches. For the first time ever, the two losing teams will compete in a third place match. That match will be held at PPL Park in Chester, PA, and the finals will be held at Lincoln Financial Stadium in Philadelphia, PA.
At the conclusion of this tournament, the stage will be set for a playoff match with the United States, the nation that won the 2013 event. The winner of that match will qualify for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. However, that would change if the United States were to win the Gold Cup. In that instance, they would automatically qualify for the 2017 event. There will also be berths up for grabs for the Copa America Centenario to those teams that place in the top four.
Some of the best players in the world will look to suit up for this tournament on American soil and fans of all these countries will undoubtedly pack stadium across North America next month.
