Congressman Cárdenas Commends Narconon Drug Prevention & Education and Teen Artists
(PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- Early this fall, Congressman Tony Cárdenas of California's 29th District gathered a group of young artists, their family members and staff of Narconon Drug Prevention & Education to thank them for their efforts to reduce drug use. The meeting came after the Congressman had seen the project they had completed earlier this year: the anti-drug coloring book titled Make Your Goals Come True, Say NO to DRUGS! Say YES to LIFE!
After months of work, these artists and Narconon Drug Prevention & Education completed this coloring book that helps young people of primary school age realize that life is more fun when a person has positive goals and when one stays drug-free. As part of her job as executive director of Narconon Drug Prevention & Education, Sigal Adini distributed these booklets all over the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. After viewing these coloring books, Congressman Tony Cárdenas requested this meeting.
And so it was that on the afternoon of Monday, the 23rd of September, Ms. Adini and six of the eight artists who worked on this drug prevention tool gathered at Congressman Cárdenas's office in Arleta, California. The Congressman took time from his busy schedule to acknowledge the young people on the contributions they had made to creating a better world.
"The Congressman loved the message of this coloring book because it does more than just tell kids not to use drugs," said Ms. Adini. "It encourages youth to set and follow goals of their own choosing because that is a major factor in the lives of youth who choose to remain drug-free."
Speaking from the heart, Congressman Cárdenas described to the youth the way one must continue to reach out to help others, despite criticism or setbacks. He commended them for helping distribute this drug-free message and recommended that they aim high in setting their future goals. He ended the meeting by presenting each of the artists with a beautifully written and framed certificate recognizing their contribution and hard work.
The six artists who joined Ms. Adini in the meeting with the Congressman were Adilene Ramirez, Pablo Huerta, Gabryella Salazar, Sebastian Murrillo, Angel Blaque and Leanna Gallegos. They were accompanied by members of their families.
"The parents were so proud of their children. The kids never expected to meet with a Congressman as a result of their work on this project," added Adini. "I know this is something they will remember forever."
