Connor Sport Court Announces New Court Award Program
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 11, 2014 -- At today’s Beyond Sport United event, Connor Sport Court announced a new Court Award program, which will provide a court surface to a not-for-profit, Sport for Development group.
Connor Sport Court will award a professional-grade playing surface to a Sport for Development organization that has built a long-term, sustainable sports programming platform. The organization must have a solid organizational framework and have demonstrated the ability to maintain consistent programming and facility upkeep.
“We believe that children around the world should have access to a safe place to play and a place that allows them to learn the core, positive values of health and fitness, sportsmanship and teamwork taught by sport,” said Brandi Connolly, senior director at Connor Sport Court. “Sport for Development organizations teach these core values very well in communities, but they often lack proper athletic facilities. It is our goal to help change the existing paradigm by providing the youth with the safest place to play.”
Connor Sport Court has been involved in the Sport for Development movement for many years working with Beyond Sport; FIVB; NORCECA; USTA; the U.S.S.F, the Nancy Lieberman Foundation, and other leading sports organizations that support the movement. Sport Court has in the past installed a playing surface in Tanzania, and in 2013 Sport Court partnered with Beyond Sport to install a court at Philadelphia’s Heritage Park. This year Sport Court will continue their Beyond Sport partnership by installing a court in Soweto, South Africa that is a separate initiative from the Court Award program.
