Connor Sports and Noah’s Arc Foundation Tip-Off Peace Games Activities in Chicago with Makeover of Major Adams Center Gym Court
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) September 16, 2015 -- Today, Connor Sports tipped-off the annual Peace Games weekend in Chicago at Major Adams Community Center with the help of Noah’s Arc Foundation (NAF). The tip-off featured the unveiling of a gymnasium hardwood basketball surface fully renovated by Connor Sports for the Major Adams Community Center. Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls and local youth who participate in academic, community and athletic activities at Major Adams including the Expression from the Inside For Kids art program, an art therapy program developed by NAF president and Joakim Noah’s mother, Cecilia Rodhe, cut the ribbon at center court. Youth from the Major Adams center also played their first basketball game on the new court during an energy-filled community ceremony attended by Major James Adams and local officials including City of Chicago 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett.
“As Champions of Community, Connor Sports is extremely pleased to see the Major Adams Community Center court renovation project come to fruition,” said Jon Isaacs, Connor Sports GM-President. “We are proud to have partnered with our friends Joakim Noah and the Noah’s Arc Foundation and Ken Butler with Major Adams to complete a full makeover of a gymnasium that will continue to provide more than 500 local youth with a safe community center where they can recreate and engage in positive activities. As a founding partner of the annual Peace Games, this project with Major Adams was a natural extension of our mission to be Champions of Community.”
The Major Adams makeover is the tip-off to the Peace Games weekend that will also include the Peace Walk on Friday evening from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with Chicago community members. The Peace Walk is followed by the annual Peace Games basketball tournament at St. Sabina’s Church on Saturday.
"As a community-based agency we don't have the funds to give the best. Now, the gymnasium at Major Adams has fresh white walls, a new court and our logo at center court," said Ken Butler, executive director Major Adams Community Center. "Now kids in an impoverished neighborhood have the best. We couldn't do this without the help of Connor Sports and the Noah's Arc Foundation."
