Conservationist Robyn Barfoot Launches New Blog “Tales of The Tiger” for Global Tiger Day to Help Save Endangered Tigers
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- Conservationist Robyn Barfoot has launched her new blog “Tales of The Tiger” for Global Tiger Day, in an effort to educate people about the issues facing endangered tigers and how they can help save them.
Barfoot, who received her degree from Arizona State University in Wildlife Conservation Biology, says she went into the zoo world to help with animal conservation efforts.
Over the past 17 years, she has worked with and handraised a variety of animals including leopards, lions, ocelots, cougars, servals, primates, wolves, macaws, jaguars, birds of prey, penguins and dozens of tigers.
With her passion to save the tiger driving her, Barfoot has traveled to India multiple times and met with various directors of tiger preserves and government organizations, including the Director of Project Tiger. While in India, Barfoot says she has been fortunate enough to see seven tigers in the wild and made many tiger conservationist friends.
Barfoot says that now, through her blog Tales of the Tiger, readers can learn about all things tigers. She is hoping this will empower people to do something to impact the future of wild tigers.
"I decided to write a blog to help spread the word about tigers and how critically endangered they are,” says Barfoot. “Most people do not realize how fragile this powerful species is and that their future survival solely relies on the actions we take right now."
Barfoot hopes her writing will help make a difference in the lives of wild tigers.
"My goal is to write about the critical state that the tiger is in but to not leave my readers feeling bad after reading it," says Barfoot. "There is so much sadness and cruelty out there, and I believe that most people are aware of that fact. The ugly side of what happens to tigers, what poachers do to them and the black market trade is very important to discuss, but at some point, it can just be too much to handle."
"Instead, I would like my readers to learn about how incredible, fascinating and precious tigers are and fall hopelessly in love with them," she says. "Because we know that people will save what they love."
“Tigers are my passion and my hope for tomorrow,” says Barfoot. “I would love for my readers to share this passion and stand with me to save the tiger."
