Consumer Advocate Mark Jala Awards the Best Roasting Pan with Roasting Rack in Time for Thanksgiving
Roanoke, VA (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, many home cooks will dust off their roasting pan and rack for the holiday bird. Unfortunately, the ever so useful roasting pan will be put away for the better part of a year right after the holidays. The roasting pan with rack is a multi-function piece of cookware and can be used for many dishes. A quality roasting pan can be used for lasagna, casseroles, roasts and of course, chicken, duck or turkey.
When conducting his roasting pan review, Mark Jala, the founder of Your Cookware Helper, has 4 criteria:
1. A good roasting pan will be thick enough not to warp. The key here is not as much warping when roasting, but warping when you deglaze the pan on the stove top. All those juices that drip into the pan make a great starter for a sauce.
2. A multi-purpose roasting pan will be of adequate size. While the larger sizes may not fit ovens in smaller apartments or homes, they serve a great purpose being large. The larger size accommodates larger foods and handles huge casseroles.
3. An excellent roasting pan will have handles that flare outwards rather than straight up or inward. Roasting pans with handles that are straight up or inward offer more opportunities for the cook to be burned. Handles that flare outwards prevent hands from touching the roasting rack or hot food.
4. Excellent heating ability is required. When roasting, most of the heat comes from the sides and top. When deglazing the sauce direct heat is on the roasting pan bottom and must handle the cold deglazing liquid without warping. When using a roasting pan for casseroles, even heating qualities are critical.
For 2013 Mr. Jala awards one roasting pan with rack. “The Best Stainless Steel Roasting Pan with Rack award goes to the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro with stainless steel rack. I have some Cuisinart Multiclad Pro cookware and love it. It’s easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and heats exceptionally well,” says Mr. Jala. “With a street price of $79.00 it’s a real bargain.”
Last year Mr. Jala also awarded a nonstick roasting pan with rack. “The 2012 award for best nonstick roasting pan with rack went to the Emeril, by All-Clad, anodized aluminum nonstick roasting pan with rack. This year that rack is difficult to find. If one is looking for a nonstick roasting pan with rack and can find the Emeril anodized aluminum roasting rack, it is still a great choice. I have found no others on the market today to rival its quality or value,” says Mr. Jala.
