Consumer Advocate Mark Jala Issues Warning About PFOA-Free Nonstick Cookware
Roanoke, VA (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- Cookware manufacturers are touting their new PFOA free nonstick cookware leading consumers to think it is safe and healthy cookware. Consumer advocate Mark Jala is not sold. It took 50 years for the dangers of PFOA nonstick cookware to become known and publicized. The PFOA replacements may take just as long.
Releasing a new article on his website http://www.YourCookwareHelper.com, Mark Jala issues a stern warning to all consumers about the new PFOA free nonstick cookware. “Studies indicate that PFOA is in the bloodstream of 98% of the population. It is not just on our cookware, but it is also on our carpets, clothing, food containers, floor wax and dental floss. It took a lot of time and effort to get the voluntary ban on PFOA by 2015. The question now is if the new chemical replacement for PFOA is any safer,” says Mr. Jala.
PFOA’s started mass industrial production in the 1940’s. Providing a very slick surface, it found its way into just about every home and in multiple products. PFOA is also called C8. The new replacements are called C6. While it was finally acknowledged that PFOA was very pervasive in the environment and nearly indestructible, the newer C6 is supposed to have a much shorter lifespan and impact on the environment.
Mr. Jala recommends “consumers to stick with the known safe and healthy cookware materials. This includes stainless steel, ceramic, cast iron and enameled cast iron, clay and the newer variations of “green” cookware. Until the PFOA replacements are put through rigorous tests and pass, it is best for now to stick with what we know is healthy cookware.”
