Plainview, New York (PRWEB) February 01, 2016 -- Today, Continuing Marijuana Education (CMEd), a division of New Century Health Alliance, LLC., receives approval from the Academy of Medicine of Queens County to offer 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits™ for its in depth program, Medical Marijuana in Clinical Practice. The first ever live, nationally certified, comprehensive program in New York State will be featured on February 27th, 2016 at the Hilton New York JFK Airport. Attendees who participate in this CMEd activity will leave with the broad understanding of the benefits of medical marijuana, its appropriate application to multiple disease states, and the risks associated.
Currently medical marijuana is available in 23 states and the District of Columbia, with access in New York State available as of January 2016. When it comes to proper use of medical marijuana, there is a clear need-gap for physician education. As a pioneer in the space, CMEd has taken on a leadership role to fill this gap, providing physicians the proper education they need to make these critical decisions while both diagnosing and treating patients.
“On behalf of CMEd we are thrilled to be able to legitimize medical marijuana education, as part of the learning curriculum for medical professionals,” says Larry I. Good, MD, FACG, COO of Continuing Marijuana Education. “The cannabis plant has been used for medical purposes for over five thousand years, and its now time for our medical community to have access to the educational resources and knowledge needed to care for their patients appropriately.”
As they focus on providing comprehensive education on the complete pharmacology of medical cannabis, CMEd will offer tools and services for doctors that are already established medical marijuana physicians and those looking to expand their practices into alternative medicine. The first course being offered by CMEd will provide insights into the history of medical marijuana usage, basic mechanism of action and pharmacology, overview of the endocannabinoid system and dosage, as well as administration for multiple disease states.
