Convoy of Hope Partners With Local Organizations to Serve Students in Need
SPRINGFIELD, Mont. (PRWEB) October 18, 2017 -- Convoy of Hope partnered with OneSolePurpose and Elevate Lives to coordinate shoe distributions at schools across Springfield during the month of September.
This is the second distribution of its kind in Springfield. In 2016, Convoy of Hope distributed more than 140,000 pairs of shoes across the United States. The process for these distributions includes visiting the schools, measuring the kids for shoe sizes, then delivering 6,000 pairs of shoes, one pair to each student, in every participating classroom.
“Springfield Public Schools is excited to expand the shoe distribution to 21 elementary schools through this robust collaboration seeking to support our students by filling a tangible need,” says Marty Moore, executive director of Learning Support and Partnerships for Springfield Public Schools. “Nothing like it exists in the country and I am not surprised that Springfield leads the way with a collective approach that will take us to the next level in providing targeted, coordinated support for students.”
This only happens in Springfield because of a great partnership among organizations.
"We want every child in Springfield to have a chance to thrive in school no matter what neighborhood they live in," says Russ Gosselin, founder of Elevate Lives.
OneSoulPurpose and Elevate Lives enlist hundreds of church volunteers from 40 churches in the community in what they call the Shoes for Schools initiative.
“We are thankful for great local partners coming together to serve students at participating schools, where 58 to 95 percent of students are on free and reduced lunches,” says Hal Donaldson, president of Convoy of Hope. “Our goal is to provide hope to students who need it most.”
