Convoy of Hope Responds to Africa Hunger Crisis
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (PRWEB) April 27, 2017 -- Convoy of Hope is responding to the hunger crisis in East Africa as several countries are on the brink of mass famine. Since a famine in 2011, Convoy of Hope has provided lifesaving assistance to children and families across the parched landscape of Kenya.
“If we address the problem before it becomes a catastrophic event, the odds of families surviving increase,” says Bryan Burr, Convoy of Hope’s country director of Kenya. “Already, we have implemented several projects to help mitigate the effects of food insecurity that are plaguing East Africa.”
A three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, former U.S. Ambassador and Congressman, Tony Hall, serves as a Special Advisor on Hunger to Convoy of Hope. With millions of lives at stake, Ambassador Hall says time is of the essence and every citizen in the United States can play a significant role in combating the crisis.
“We need to intervene in this crisis because we can play a part in saving the lives of children and families,” says Hall. “Convoy of Hope knows what to do and is already on the ground helping those in need.”
In remote areas of Kenya, Convoy teams are providing food rations to approximately 18,000 beneficiaries.
