Cookbook Designed to Help Us Eat Like a Firefighter Will Improve Our Health and Strengthen Our Families
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) September 15, 2015 -- 24-7 Commitment, a non-profit organization focused on strengthening firefighter marriage and their families is releasing their first ever cookbook, "Eat Like a Firefighter," on December 1, 2015. The book is now available for pre-sale to be shipped in time for the holidays.
Recipes have been sent in by firemen, firehouses, and fire families all over the country to create one comprehensive guide to "eating like a firefighter."
"Our goal with this [cookbook] is to share the tradition and spirit of the fire house kitchen, encompassing healthy eating, flexible and efficient cooking and family love, with the community," said Lori Mercer, founder of 24-7 Commitment. "Sharing these things will help to further the mission of our organization, a 24-7 COMMITMENT to marriage, family and the betterment of the lives of first responders. Simply enough, food is love; it sustains and connects us, builds bridges and sometimes even mends hearts. "
The organization has selected the top recipes from firehouses and families across the country to compile the first ever cookbook made not only for firefighters, but also for the communities in which they live and serve. “Eat Like a Firefighter” also includes tips and tricks only found within the walls of the firehouse, and original content and submissions from firefighters and their families.
Funds from “Eat Like a Firefighter” will be used to bring services that are missing to fire departments throughout the country. Most departments have little to no resources to assist marriages or families that are struggling with the stress and toll a first responder's job takes on their home life. A firefighter arriving to the job secure and happy in their marriage and at home is able to focus on the job and deliver the most safe and high caliber service to their community.
