Cooksongold Wins Award at Prestigious UK Retail Jewellery Awards
(PRWEB UK) 24 June 2015 -- Cooksongold has picked up the award for Innovation at the UK Retail Jewellery Awards 2015.
The prestigious awards, which remain the only ones in the industry which are currently judged by the industry, took place on 17 June at the historic Tower of London.
With 18 categories, the awards cover every aspect of the jewellery industry. The UK Jewellery Awards are the most relevant awards in the jewellery industry.
Competition this year was extremely tough with a record number of entries received. Cooksongold won the Innovation category for its Direct Precious Metal 3D Printing technology, and were also highly commended in the Supplier of the Year category.
Discussing the award win, David Fletcher, Business Development Manager, said:
“It truly is an honour to have been nominated in both the Supplier of the Year and the Innovation Award categories at the 2015 UK Retail Jewellery Awards. The UK jewellery industry is at the forefront of both innovation and creative design in a global market. So to be recognised by our peers in the Innovation category for our direct Precious Metal 3D Printing technology is really fantastic”.
“The Cooksongold team have worked extremely hard to bring the technology to a commercial standard and will continue their work providing the industry with a new production process that will enable the creation of designs that were simply not possible until now. We would like to thank the organisers for a wonderful evening which showed why it really is a great industry to be involved in. Cooksongold will continue its support of the trade by providing its high quality service, supplying the tools and materials needed to create beautiful and innovative jewellery”.
One of the judges noted that Cooksongold's 3D printing technology was a genuine game changer, set to revolutionise the future of jewellery design.
The Direct Precious Metal 3D Printing system, the M 080, which was purpose built for precious metal production, utilises the power of 3D CAD design. The M 080 enables intricate one-off 3D designs to be manufactured within a few hours, dramatically reducing the time required from design idea to manufacture. The M 080 produces precious metal designs layer by layer, melting fine metal powder with a laser. This process is also known as direct metal laser sintering (DMLS).
