Cooper Freight Services to Add 60 Jobs at Its Grenada, MS Facility
Grenada, MS (PRWEB) June 08, 2014 -- The Grenada Economic Development District (the EDD) announced today that Cooper Freight Service, a regional provider of transportation solutions, is expanding operations at its facility in the Air Industrial Park in Grenada, Mississippi.
The company recently purchased additional acreage at its current facility and is expanding its footprint to accommodate the increased demand for their services by local and regional customers. The project will create 60 jobs in the regional economy at an average wage of $50,000 per year. The Grenada EDD and the Grenada County Board of Supervisors are working closely with the company to support its growth in the community. Holmes Community College and the Grenada EDD are also working towards the development of a truck driving training program to support the growth of the transportation industry in the region. Cooper Freight Service has been in business since 1975, when Henry Cooper began delivering airfreight to and from the Memphis International Airport. Originally called Cooper & Sons, the name was changed to Cooper Air Freight Service, Inc. in 1979. In the early 80’s, the company began an LTL operation with terminals in Romulus, MI, Memphis, TN, and Grenada. In the 90’s, the company expanded services into the Midwest. Today, the company is still owned and operated by the Henry Cooper family.
