CORE Rehab Staffing Grows by Ditching the Office

That however, has not deterred company owners Aaron Miguel and Scott Carlton, who state that while the business conditions are less than ideal, they have been forced to find "novel ways to use technology to reduce costs and keep business moving forward." CORE recently made the strategic decision to forego a traditional office space, and has instead utilized technology to build a network of telecommuting administration. The company believes it will give them a competitive advantage in the staffing industry.
The brick and mortar store front or office space which was at one time a necessity, is beginning to look more and more like an unneeded expense to some organizations. Especially those in the early stages of growth. CORE Rehab Staffing which provides Per Diem and Travel rehabilitation staffing (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy) to facilities throughout the Western United States, has leveraged technology to cut down expenses and provide higher levels of service to contract facilities and their therapy staff. Owner Scott Carlton explains, "The use of technology allows us to work remotely from anywhere at a fraction of the cost of a traditional office space. Those savings can then be passed on as higher pay to our therapists and lower cost to our contracted facilities."
One of CORE's primary concerns when deciding to create a remote work force was the customer experience. Aaron Miguel states, "We wanted to ensure that our per diem staff had a consistent high quality experience when they called us. It was critically important to make sure that working remotely did not negatively impact the service level we pride ourselves on." CORE Rehab Staffing began working with RingCentral to route calls from their company line to staff computers, or cell phones when recruiters were away from their desk. CORE also relies heavily on Salesforce.com which is a cloud based CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool to organize their contract facilities, rehabilitation staff, and therapy job placements.
While CORE continues to recruit rehabilitation staff and build their business, company management has said that the technology will allow them to be nimble and easily adapt to market conditions. Furthermore, while the current company administration is spread out across California, CORE said they now have the ability to hire talent and allow them to work anywhere in the United States. "If we find a talented therapy recruiter in New York or Texas, we can now hire them and bring them on-board seamlessly. CORE is no-longer limited by our immediate geographical location. As we continue to grow, we will be able to scale the organization faster than any of our competitors," states Carlton.
CORE has not stopped there. They are also digitizing all of their documents and records to securely store therapists' credentials and time cards to create a paperless work environment. Eventually the company plans to develop a smart-phone based app where therapists can obtain a digital signature on their time card and submit it directly to the billing team.
"We are not doing this just because we can," states President Aaron Miguel. "We are doing this because it makes good business sense, allows us to further our mission, and preserves the capital we are going to need to fund our future growth."
