Corinne Weber’s New Memoir Optioned for Feature Film
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) June 11, 2015 -- Author Corinne Weber may be seeing herself and her real-life battle against an eating disorder portrayed on the big screen in the near future. Her new memoir, “Where the Monster Weights: How Anorexia Held Me Hostage” (published by Balboa Press), has just been optioned by JoyTri Productions, LLC.
The National Eating Disorder Association says that by age 6, girls begin to express their concerns about becoming too fat, with many of these concerns becoming genuine fears by adolescence. The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders found that over half of teenage girls admitted to using unhealthy weight control behaviors, such as skipping meals, vomiting and taking laxatives.
For Weber, some of these behaviors were once a reality. In her memoir, Weber explores what it means to be anorexic, detailing how she eventually found herself at the grocery store considering low-calorie baby food and what she did to pull herself back.
“Where the Monster Weights” deconstructs the factors in Weber’s life that led to her eating disorder. She recounts how her twin brother’s rebellious actions drove her to be the “perfect” daughter and how the loss of her first love heightened her insecurities and paved the way for an eating disorder to consume her life.
“This story not only reveals the surreptitious and insidious nature of an eating disorder,” Weber says. “It explores the breakdown and healing of a close family.”
Through faith, love and friendship, Weber found the strength within herself to recover and the will to live again. Her poignant memoir offers a raw, honest view of living with an eating disorder and reaches out to those who may currently be struggling with one. Weber hopes to inspire and remind readers that recovery is possible.
