Cornerstone University Celebrates Completion of $3.9 Million Renovation
Grand Rapids, Michigan (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 -- On Feb. 26, Cornerstone University’s Professional & Graduate Program will celebrate the completion of a nearly $4 million renovation to its building on 300 E. Beltline Ave. in Grand Rapids.
The renovated facility now includes seven classrooms, an enrollment office, administrative offices, text book and materials distribution space, computer stations, a student lounge and break-out space for discussions, multiple conference rooms and financial aid office.
Faculty and staff will celebrate with the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. in the lobby of the new building.
Dr. Joe Stowell, president of Cornerstone University, will do the honors of cutting the ribbon after a few brief comments.
The original 18,000 square foot building was completely gutted to the studs and an additional 3,000 sq. ft. was added to the south.
The building was renovated to create a one-stop, adult student experience in the Professional and Graduate Studies division. Previously, students had to visit various offices across the CU campus at 1001 E. Beltline due to limited spacing.
Now, the adult student can inquire as a prospective student, enroll for classes, complete arrangements for financial aid and complete all instruction within the building.
During the six-month renovation, the PGS staff were housed at the Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.
During the renovation materials from the existing building were donated to Habitat for Humanity to sell to help fund construction of new homes for people in need. Donations included glass, doors, oak trim, vent grates, doors, trim, tiles, glass and many other quality supplies.
This initiative was a strong testament to the desire for CU to be part of the community.
Staff and faculty of PGS and Cornerstone regularly volunteer at Habitat for Humanity.
