Coroner ID's Berkeley Bodies Who Were Killed in Recent Car Accident
Berkely, SC (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- Two bodies recovered from a terrible car accident last week have been identified, but the cause of the fatal wreck remains unsolved. Attorney Gary Christmas of Howell and Christmas law firm says a tiny difference in judgment likely could have prevented two deaths and four injuries.
The crash happened late at night when a Ford Focus allegedly failed to stop at an intersection, plowing into an oncoming vehicle according to WCSC News (10.28.2013). The two bodies in the Focus were not immediately identifiable, and County Coroner's Office was charged with uncovering their identities.
Within 24 hours coroner Bill Salisbury identified them as brothers Christopher and Jonathan Bracewell, both in their early twenties. Police have not indicated whether there was a reason the brothers allegedly didn't stop at the corner reported WCSC.
“Unfortunately this is something we see often,” said Christmas, who focuses his practice on assisting car accident victims and their families. “People look away from the road for a quick second or decide to roll through a stop, and then we have fatalities or serious injuries.”
According to the WCSC article, the other vehicle in the wreck was an SUV with four passengers, all of whom were taken to the hospital for their injuries. Police have not commented on their condition, but stated that two of those injured were children.
“All of the victims will need compensation to help cover their medical expenses and recover from their injuries,” Christmas said. “It's a tragedy on both sides, and it could have likely been prevented simply by stopping at a stop sign.”
Christmas said that those injured in the accident should seek legal counsel.
“Accident victims can receive much more in assistance than what their insurance companies offer,” he said. “A good lawyer can help.”
