Corporate Directors Forum in San Diego Announces New CEO
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) April 20, 2017 -- Corporate Directors Forum (CDF) announced today that its board of directors has appointed Christina de Vaca Chief Executive Officer, effective May 15, 2017. Linda Sweeney, long-time Executive Director of the organization, informed the board earlier this year of her decision to leave to pursue other interests. She has been working with the board to assure a smooth transition.
Ms. de Vaca has been with University of San Diego since 2011 and currently holds the position of Director, Corporate Relations and Business Development. Prior to that, she taught governance in executive programs at UCI and USD, and business communication, executive training and leadership at MiraCosta College. From 2003-2008, she was Vice President, Chief Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary at Valeant Pharmaceuticals, Inc. She indicated that “A strong board, committed corporate sponsors and an engaged membership make CDF a remarkably well-positioned and prestigious organization,” and added, “I look forward to the many new opportunities we will create together and to building on the outstanding achievements to date.”
John Skousen, Chairman of the CDF board stated “We are delighted that Chris has chosen to accept the CEO position at CDF. She brings a unique combination of relevant skills and knowledge. She has served on our board for many years and knows it well. She has in-depth knowledge of current issues in corporate governance and great passion for the topic. She has worked directly with CEO’s, directors, board chairs, and corporate officers. She believes in building partnerships that enhance value for all CDF constituencies.”
“We are deeply grateful to Linda Sweeney for her leadership and dedication to CDF. Under Linda’s leadership,” said past chair, Julia Brown, “CDF has become one of the largest regional organizations focused on corporate governance in the country. She’s grown membership and programs, achieved sound financial position and grown the Director of the Year event to be one of the key business events each year in San Diego. She’s added programs such as the highly acclaimed and successful national governance conference, “Directors Forum: Directors, Management & Shareholders in Dialogue”, which has been held in San Diego for 12 years and attracts some of the biggest shareholders, directors and leaders in corporate governance in the U.S..”
Scott Stanton, CDF chair elect said, “Under Linda’s leadership, CDF has truly become an asset to San Diego’s business community. We thank her for her years of service and wish her well in her new endeavors. Our goal is to build on all that’s been accomplished to date. We feel very fortunate to have such a well-qualified successor.”
